As NHTOA nears its 100th anniversary in 2011, the organization is planning a year-long celebration.  The Centennial Committee, including Bob Bertie, Harold Cook, Ann Davis, John Harrigan, Jasen Stock, Sarah Smith, Ned Therrien and Charlie Levesque is working to plan and organize events for NHTOA's centennial and to find ways to celebrate the history and future of forests in the Granite State.
In its research, the committee already has discovered:

  • The year 2011 also marks the 100th anniversary of the Week's Act, which authorized the creation of White Mountain National Forest.
  • The United Nations has proclaimed 2011 the "Year of the Forest."
As the committee pulls together its plans, it welcomes your historical materials or current information from members regarding New Hampshire's forests past, present and future.

We are also looking for volunteers to put together woodsman competitions and Field day celebrations in each of New Hampshire's 10 counties. (a one time event - summer 2011.

NHPTV Partners with NHTOA
As part of the NHTOA’s celebration of its centennial and the 100th anniversary of the White Mountain National Forest. We contacted New Hampshire Public Television in hopes of producing a series based on the history of New Hampshire’s Forests and how they are poised to transition into the next 100 years. We are proud to say that NHPTV has agreed to work with our centennial committee and will be producing a ground breaking multi-media format program that will appear on TV, cable, DVD, the internet, and will become the basis for classroom teaching programs statewide. The NHTOA is happy to be calling NHPTV our partner and we look forward to working with them over the next year.

THANKS!
