Course Content:
This workshop will give loggers a better understanding of forest management and appropriate applications of silviculture. Course content includes discussion/powerpoints on historical events, current status of New Hampshire forests, Silvicultural principles of New England, Forest types, landowner goals and objectives, tree growth/maturity/vigor, forest regeneration, wildlife habitat, harvesting systems, and loggers function in silviculture.

BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH.
Be prepared to walk in the woods.

Field Sessions will include:
A walking tour to learn about red pine salvage and other forest management plans at the Urban Forestry Center a portable sawmill demonstration and a tour P.R. Russell in Epping.

Directions: From Concord take I-93 south to Manchester. Follow Rt. 101 east to I-95. Drive north on I-95 to Portsmouth. Get off at exit 3 and get on Rt. 33 east. Just past the cemetery take a right on Peverly Hill Road. When you cross Rt. 1 it becomes Elwyn Road. Forestry Center is on the left.
