On Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018, the Executive Council unanimously approved the N.H. Fish & Game Department’s transfer of unexpected funds from Excess Registration Fees to the Fish & Game OHRV Fiscal Year 2018 and 2019 Operating Budgets.
This funding will support the addition of two new conservation officers dedicated to the enforcement of N.H.’s OHRV laws. This is especially important to land owners, who allow motorized recreation on their property and landowners grappling with illegal OHRV trespass.
In a statement to fellow councilors and the Governor, Councilor Joseph Kenney said: “As New Hampshire cultivates these types of recreational opportunities, it puts pressure on law enforcement, increases overtime, and having to work after hours to respond to calls. We need to give law enforcement this support. This support will also gain the support and respect of landowners who allow this recreation in their property. Private landowners will dictate the future of this sport.”
