Course Content:
Logging contractors require basic mapping skills for operations planning and permitting. There are many tools and approaches that are effective. Fundamentally, there are a few steps: data collection, creating files and developing maps. This program introduces participants to the basics of data collection with a smartphone and handheld GPS device, as well as the process of getting data transferred to a couple of different mapping software options, with a focus on Avenza mapping. Participants will engage in a wetland notification scenario and address SFI forests with exceptional conservation value criteria.
